that area over the weekend. jacqueline is here to tell us about the hot weather details ahead. >> crowd in that area and the beaches because were quite as the intense heat in our inland spots in the weekend. our current conditions are ranging from 72 in half moon bay to 92 in santa rosa out mostly in the '80s out there this afternoon. 84 in oakland 86 in the san jose temperatures are up eight degrees from lot saw yesterday. a few places are little less nevadas at seven oakland the seven now balk, happened in fairfield also alps seven degrees but many places at 8 degrees over what we saw yesterday. tonight into tomorrow we have clear skies out there right now that will continue this evening and things will stay on the warm side as well. by some o'clock tomorrow a temperatures will not cool off it will be pretty mild and into the afternoon will see temperatures warm another five degrees so near hundred degrees for inland spots. we'll talk more about the heat wave that will last into next week coming up in a bed. >> memorial service is under way for three of the people who died in the san

weekend for you. those of us who live here, with he know that sunshine, even at the beaches, we will have 70s there. as we look out over the south end of the bay, nice start to the day over san jose. the temperatures have been in the 60s for most locations. a couple of 50s in the north end of the bay. mid-50s if that. these numbers are going to quickly rebound and jump up. we have a big ridge of high pressure settling over the bay area, most of the western half of the u.s., from washington down through san diego. there will be a little bit of cooling along. tomorrow's storm, the tail end of it, passes the bay area. all it is going to do is keep us right about where we are today. sunday, very similar to saturday. maybe we will drop into the 60s at the beaches. we will continue with more of the 90s in some of the warmer spots. monday, those 90s you see there will be closer to 100 degrees in some of the warmer spots. concord over to say livermore, you have got a good chance of reaching 100 degrees. we will get those at palm springs and in through the central san joaquin valley. look at san l

, who covers capitol hill for "the new york times." thanks for being back with us. so what's this delay all about? >> well, the senate clearly doesn't want to get embroiled in this issue before the election. it's just too unpredictable and the story line for democrats is clean, as things stand now. they're making the case that republicans would block tax relief for the middle class to hold out for tax break force the wealthy. republicans, of course shall want to extend those tax cuts for everyone. and so it's easier in the view of democrats to push this until a lame duck session. the political situation will obviously be less intense then. but as you said, the house speaker today left open the possibility of forcing a vote. and that could get really interesting next week. >> woodruff: now why the different calculus in the senate and in the house. >> the calculus probably isn't different. the conventional wisdom still is that in the end the house will decide to go home and campaign without taking this vote. but there's no reason for speaker pelosi to relent right now when she thinks she'
